WhatStudio manager Stephen Cole has over 20 years of international experience in a wide range of genres, as a performer, writer, producer, engineer, mixing and mastering engineer, and is keen to understand your project.
Stephen is an experienced multi-instrumental musician who also studied sound and became a producer. Co-founder and producer of multi-genre veterans a.P.A.t.T. (Upset The Rhythm, Cargo, Pickled Egg) he has toured and played with artists including Daniel Johnston, Secret Chiefs 3, Lightning Bolt, The Locust, and the Sun Ra Arkestra.
Past projects include acclaimed work with Ex-Easter Island Head, Cavalier Song, and Barberos.
Technically speaking, a hybrid digital/analog mixing approach is taken. The front end is Allen & Heath Zed-R16, Neve 1073’s, GA73’s, MOTU and Audient input stages, ADAM audio monitoring, and running Logic 9/X.
