MAPA is short for “Masters At Play”, created as a multi-functional studio built to house and unlock artists’ creative writing, production, sound design, recording, mixing, podcasting and DJing whilst having fun and keeping good energy and vibes constantly flowing in a professional environment.

Founded by Michael Tello of the band, PillowTalk, a man who wears many hats in the music industry. From DJ, artist, producer, live performer, promoter, engineer and teacher, he has undoubtedly carved out a distinguished place for himself amongst his peers in today’s electronic dance music community.

Co-founder and A&R of ​Touch of Class Records and the new ​PillowTalk Music imprint, he also has an extensive discography under his belt including releases on: Life & Death, Visionquest, Crew Love, Wolf + Lamb, Kompakt, Jive, Culprit, Leftroom Limited, Om Records, Smoke N’ Mirrors and Roam Recordings, as well as remixes for Francesca Lombardo, Groove Armada, Kasper Bjork, DJ Tennis, HNQO, Laid Back, Soul Clap, W+L, Nick Monaco, Life On Planets, Lee Curits, Tone Of Arc, PillowTalk, Navid Izadi, Midnight Magic, Future Generations, Set Mo, B.Bravo and Lonely Boy, there is no doubt that Michael will continue doing what he loves and is most passionate about, music.

Home to an eclectic collection of artists and producers who are all experts at engineering, recording, and mixing MAPA Studios is a one-stop candy shop. Ryan Doyle, AKA Chuwee is a House producing young gun originally from San Diego, who ruckus all over the musically eclectic city of San Francisco. He is now currently residing in Brooklyn, New York where focusing on refining his production and expanding his vinyl collection. Chuwee has been deeply submerged in the beautiful electronic music scene throughout the world, both playing live and Djing his music. He is co-founder of the Vinyl imprint Mickey’s Laundry Line, showcasing artists throughout the globe. Chuwee’s production is inspired by the pioneers of house and techno music, and his analog studio stock full of modules, vintage drum machines, and synths. This engulfs his followers with a groovy, hypnotic feeling of self-expression and exploration. Join Chuwee on his quest to share the magic of music.

Designed with the novel engineer in mind, you can pull up any fader on our Midas Venice F32, arm a track in your DAW, and start jamming and recording. Bring your own laptop and our in-house engineers will set you up with a few drivers and boom you’re ready to take the “Millenium Falcon” for a ride. For a more expert approach, hire one of our engineers to run your session on our IMac, Ableton Suite along with a plethora of great plugins, WAVES Platinum, Arturia V-Collection 7, Soundtoys, D16, and Universal Audio. Just bring an external drive with your stems, samples, and project folder and we’ll get right to work for you.

Whether you’re looking to create some fresh new beats with our vintage collection of Roland Drum Machines (909,707,505), Oberheim OBX, Arturia Drumbrute, sample some vinyl and drop into the Ableton Push 2 or nerd out on our top of the line Modular System, you won’t find yourself short of ideas with our extensive array of vintage analog keyboards (KORG MS2000, POLYSIX, JUNO 106) or newer digital synthesizers, (KORG Mininova, Novation Ultranova, Waldorf, Arturia Minibrute), and collection of Roland Boutiques (TB-09, TB-03, SH-01A, D-05, JU-06), all perfectly synced with our ERM Multiclock system for all you dance music fanatics. Just press play and watch the machines go to work for you. All Keyboards can be controlled by our top-of-the-line KORG SV1 Tube Stage Piano with weighted keys for the professional pianist.

Need to record, vocals, guitar, bass, percussion, “We got you!”, the Neumann TLM103 is sure to deliver the quality you’re looking for. Our 8’X8’ treated live room has two functions, recording audio and a full-service DJ Booth for live streaming, recording mixes, and podcasts. With a 4’X2’ double pane professional studio window that looks right into the mixing room, you won’t ever lose the vibe when capturing the magic in our studio.
